Aviemore sits at the foot of the Cairngorms on the western side of the UK's largest National Park. Aviemore has undergone a rejuvenation over the last few years and is returning to the hey days of the 1970s. There is a real buzz and excitement that does justice to the wonderful area and talent of local people. The high street too has had a makeover that combines the traditional with the new. Almost any type of outdoor activity can be pursued from an Aviemore base.

In our view, the Park with fantastic picturesque views, lochs, wildlife, plant life, activities, whiskies, food and music should not be missed by anyone venturing into the Highlands of Scotland. Spectacular views from the foot of the mountains can be seen by taking the Strathspey Steam Railway to the Boat of Garten. There are plans to extend this railway to the beautiful town of Grantown-on-Spey, well worth a visit if you can.

There is something going on all the year round too; the funicular railway takes skiers up the mountain in winter and sightseers up during the summer. There are hundreds of miles of walks and trails for those on foot or those choosing to take their mountain bike out for a spin. Loch Morlich and Loch Insh provide sailing and windsurfing, and there is a climbing wall at Glenmore should you choose not to tackle the real thing.
